Every night we go home and switch on the news channel, to find headlines full of violence, atrocities and we wonder how this world keeps moving in spite of so many multi layered biases which are actually the root cause of all this.

Yeh Mera India is an attempt to explore the real stories behind these headlines. These stories deal with racial bias, communal bias, caste bias, class bias, gender bias, lingual bias and immigrant bias that plaque today's society and the outcome is startling. It is human ability to find redemption.

It is a story of one day in the life of 12 people from the different strata of Mumbai city which is a melting pot of cultures. They all start the day with a goal in mind but surprisingly end up achieving exactly the opposite, giving it a feel of Greek tragedy. However in Yeh Mera India it is more of a reversal of fortune from bad to good than from good to bad.

What can happen at a funeral? Even if it's the funeral of Daddy Cool Douglas Lazarus in Goa?

Tears, sad speeches, melancholia... right? Wrong!
Not with a roomful of eccentric characters. And not when the wrong body is delivered.

Good son Steven Lazarus (Suniel Shetty), an aspiring writer tries to give his father a decent funeral by delivering a eulogy which includes a description of the rivers of Goa.

Having flown in first class, his younger brother Brian (Ashish Chowdhry) is suave, successful and a much admired writer from Mumbai. He is not ready to share responsibility for his mother, saying he barely has money to support himself and his dogs.

The estate agent Pinto (Vijay Patkar) tries to close a house deal for Nancy (Aarti Chabria), Steven's wife who is trying to get away from her mother-in-law Mrs.Lazarus (Suhasini Mulay), who though just bereaved, lives up to her title admirably.

A prospective groom Michael (Aftab Shivdasani) to a cousin, Maria (Tulip Joshi), is nervous about meeting his father-in-law to be (Naseer Abdullah) and comes in completely spaced out because of a hallucinogenic drug given to him out of Maria's junkie brother Harry's (Chunky Pandey) bottle of Relaxo.

A knife-wielding suspicious Jenny (Kim Sharma) finds her husband Carlos (Javed Jaffrey) pleading forgiveness from the hot model Ayesha (Sophie Chowdhry). While the model, told to bestow her favours on a man in a black suit, in order to feature in an ad film, finds herself in a room full of potential employers.

A repulsive spit on hands and flick back hair, Roadside Romeo kind of aspiring boyfriend, Jim (Vrajesh Hirjee) thinks that even a funeral is an opportunity to impress Maria.

A doddering old Uncle Murphy (Prem Chopra) in a wheelchair believes in practicing "rapchick" to get the girls. And then enters a blackmailer Andrew (Rajpal Yadav) who has a scandalous secret about the deceased Douglas "Daddy Cool" Lazarus (Sharat Saxena).

So what does happen is complete melange of madness, chaos, and a laugh a minute! So is it a 'fun'eral? Or should we say the fun is real?

Yeh Mera India Movie Reviews

Released with the least possible promotional campaign, “Yeh Mera India” showed the glimpses of its powerful content in the promos itself. And as promised it thankfully delivers a quality product with many thoughtful sequences, questioning the social double standards of our society. In other words, it is the most important movie of 2009 since it talks about some burning issues and forces the viewer to think about his life and the actions he might have taken in the similar situations.

It belongs to the same genre of movies which talk about different inter-connected stories in a collective manner, as seen earlier in “Firaaq”, “Mumbai Meri Jaan”, “Metro” and more. The style may seem to be a bit repetitive, but it’s the quality of the content which makes the movie appreciable and worth watching. It intelligently starts with a T.V. News highlighting the major incidents occurred during a particular day and then takes you back into a series of flashbacks giving the detailed accounts of each incident individually.

In the initial moments, it may seem to be a deliberate attempt by the director but as the stories develop, you start relating to them easily. The first half builds a clean platform for all the characters interlinked with each other. And as you are well familiar with the plots, it takes you into an explosive second half where every story is fast moving towards its own boiling point. In few words, the post interval proceedings turn the movie into a solid commendable effort by both its writer and the director.

The well written script, surrounding a complex web of relationships, touches almost every important social issue of the current times. It talks about communal hatred among the people, class differences in the society, rich exploiting industrialists, gangster’s extortion mafia, Jihaadi Movement in the country, misguided younger generation, mean political leaders, TRP driven channels, Migration problems in the Metros, Profit motives of the Hospitals, Medical Negligence by the Doctors and also the Spiritual Heritage of our country.

It may seem impossible to incorporate all the above mentioned plots in one movie alone, but director N. Chandra remarkably performs this tough task and that too with a great conviction and class. He is back in form again roaring like a lion with his own specialized genre of movies based on intense social problems. Chandra brilliantly handles each individual story with an equal importance and makes you feel the pain felt by all his character simultaneously. The hard hitting and impactful execution by the director leaves a solid impact on the viewer as he walks out of the theater...thinking.

Not going into details of each storyline, I would like to mention the most beautiful and important sub-plot of the movie involving a doctor, a judge and a victim harmed by the Medical Negligence of his doctor. The story teaches us the art of forgiving in a very pleasing manner. It explains the real meaning of the word empathy and its importance in our gifted short lives. I don’t remember any other movie talking about this subject in a more expressive way than “Yeh Mera India”. So, among all the other sub-plots, I rate this particular part of the movie as the most impressive and well directed one having the power to stay in your minds for long.

Talking about the performances, you can feel the heart and soul put in by all the actors performing in the movie. Thinking about each story individually you remember every single actor giving one of the best acts of his career including the veterans Anupam Kher, Rajat Kapoor and Seema Biswas. N. Chandra has splendidly extracted worth praising performances from his entire star-cast including the ones playing their minuscule roles. The song less movie also gets well supported by its soothing Background Score, fine Cinematography and crisp to the point editing.

Another worth mentioning ace is the use of “Urdu Shayri Couplets” incorporated with a heavy background voice, after every important incident in the movie. The deep meaning of the few lines spoken at an appropriate time, increase the overall impact of a sequence to many folds.

So, if you love the thought of living together as brothers, if you can feel the importance of the remaining years of your life and if you believe in sharing what you have in your possession, then “Yeh Mera India” will surely make you feel much better. The movie is not only about India alone, but it is about every country existing on the globe facing problems. It talks more about the concept of Universal Brotherhood and the urgency to understand its need in the current times. On merit basis, as it was “Mumbai Meri Jaan” in 2008, there is “Yeh Mera India” in 2009. Just go for it now!

"There are total 7 songs in the movie. Daddy Cool movie releases on 28th August, 2009 as a comedy movie. There is good comedy in the movie. So, songs and music are also much enjoying.

“Daddy Cool” is the first song of the movie which is sung by Raghav Sachar. Music of the song begins with instrument which is very slow. The song comes in voice as “Daddy… Daddy… Ha… Ankhiyon Me Jadoo Teri… Ada hai Palak Pe…” The song has great put-up of music. Daddy Cool music will give you a feeling of classical music, traditional music, western influence and instrumental music. There is sweet voice of flute music also. It is perfect song to show the meaning of “Daddy Cool” a fun movie. Many times “Daddy Cool” with “Jhankar” music appears in the sequence of the song.

“Nasha Nasha” is the second song of Daddy Cool music which sung by Neha Bhaseen. The song is mix-up of English and Hindi words. There is slow-paced music in the song but “Jhankar” is very rhythmic. Three (2009) | Love, Lies and Betrayal

Three– Love, Lies and Betrayal is a story about three individuals and what takes place within a house located at Purple Lake.

The story revolves around Mrs. Anjini Dutt (Nausheen Ali Sardar), a violin teacher who is running the house with whatever she earns. She is married to Rajeev Dutt (Akshay Kapoor) and her husband who has not been able to earn much, lives on her earnings. This leads to anger and frustration in their relationship.

Rajeev finally gathers the courage to ask her to sell the house and give him the money to invest in the business. This infuriates her, as the house is the only connection she has with her late parents. However, she decides to help her husband and gives one portion of her house on rent so that he can use the money for setting up his business.

This brings Sanjay (Ashish Chowdhry) into the picture. He comes to stay as a tenant and soon reads the tension between the couple and sympathizes with her. In the process she falls in love with him owing to the lack of love in her marriage.

Is Sanjay’s love for real? Has Anjini made a mistake? Will she have to pay for it with her house, or even her life? What is written in her fate? Who will win in this game of love, lies and betrayal?

Three(2009) | Love, Lies and Betrayal

Vikram Bhatt’s previous thriller movies have been a mixed bag of both quality and mediocre flicks. But this time he only wears the hat of a producer and scriptwriter, whereas the film is directed by the debutant Vishal Pandya. Trying his hand at an intense crime thriller, Vishal comes up with a reasonably okay attempt which sticks to its original theme and subject. But in absence of highly gripping moments in the movie, it may find hard to find a large number of viewers.

The story talks about the relationships and betrayal games being played between three characters living in a house. The owners are a loving couple, fighting hard to go on with their happy married life. In order to meet their growing financial needs they decide to rent a portion of their house to a young part time singer, who in return brings more complications into their half broken marriage. The director slowly shows the ugly side of each central character in the script and also surprises the viewer with some sharp twists and turns in the plot. But still the movie fails to take you in completely and keeps on moving with a simple time-pass feel throughout.

The main reason behind the less absorbing feel of the movie is that it doesn’t have any relief moments in the proceedings which make you feel tense and restless. Moreover, the script doesn’t have too many characters to deal with, which results in a tired, monotonous look for the movie in the end. Nausheen Ali Sardar, playing the sharp lady of the house, gets a good opportunity to prove herself and she readily makes the most of it. Impressing with her brilliant act, she scores above the rest, but should have gone for a little less make-up for her looks. Ashish Chowdhry improves a lot from his previous projects. Akshay Kapoor shows his capabilities after he less impactful “Powder” and Achint Kaur leaves a mark in her few scenes.

It’s really amusing to see, that even in the current changing scenario, directors are still forced to squeeze in few song and dance sequences in an otherwise bloody crime movie. The music is average, but it wasn’t really required according to the script. The few melodious piano pieces played in the movie could have served the purpose perfectly. Background score supports the theme completely and DOP captures Scotland and its locales on the screen beautifully. But the movie could have been shot anywhere as the location has no role to play in the script and its only there to add more glamour and grandeur to the project.

The first half seems to be inspired from “A Perfect Murder” where also the husband and this wife have a criminal link up with an artist. But later on, the three characters go on backstabbing each other in a more desperate way than expected. In short, if you love watching crime thrillers with straight to the point proceedings and characters ditching each other with a different plan of their own, then you might enjoy “Three”. But if you want to have a good entertaining time as a refreshing dose after your hard day, then it may not be the right choice for your evening.

In our part of the world, the most successful crime thrillers have been made by Abbas-Mastan, who may have been inspired though, but rightly understand the pulse of our Indian viewers. They exactly know how a crime thriller has to be presented in front of the Indian audiences as a tasty, crispy, flavored dish. But Vishal Pandya’s current attempt missed out on those necessary spicy ingredients, which could have resulted in a more entertaining thriller for the viewers. In all it’s just an okay product, which can be given a try if you really love this particular genre.

A person aiming a shot at Arjun in the dead of the night and a few minutes later an old man suddenly meeting him in Goa - both these incidents, if studied carefully, throw enough pointers for audiences to ponder over the film's plot.

At the same time, Arjun, a top lawyer, publishes a novel titled "Fix The Fox", which goes on to become a best-seller.

The novel includes graphic details of five gruesome murders in the past and this detailing leads Arjun to Sunny Deol, a senior cop at the Crime Branch. It's this build-up till the interval that keeps the thrilling quotient intact for "Fox".

But the turn of events does keep you watching - whether it is the lawyer who only fights for criminals, a sense of guilt leading to a break-up with his rapist-cum-murderer friend Vipul Gupta, a momentary break from his legal partner and girlfriend Sagarika Ghatge, a fortunate encounter with publishing house owner Udita Goswami or his debut novel "Fix The Fox" gaining world wide popularity.

Mallana 2009- Movie Review

Here’s one more movie that adopts the same old trend of Tamil films of a good Samaritan robbing from the rich to fee the poor and needy. Though Mallanna involves a super hero, the director Susi Ganesan tends to go off the track at times and the movie takes a nose dive!

The story revolves around a group of friends who came to Chennai with bare necessities but with a load of dreams and an examination hall ticket. What surprises us is that all of them get recruited with CBI. The money they obtain from raids is used to serve the poor and needy. Mallanna, who secretly doles out money for surgeries, education and weddings in poor families, becomes a phenomenon that is difficult to demystify. Prabhu, does justice to his role as the intelligence officer and he does nail the superhero after 3 long drabby hours.

The movie stretches unreasonably without any rhyme or reason and the hero’s rooster’s outfit and a slightly odd demeanor is exposed in all his vulnerability as the movie progresses. The editing is not good as it does follow a definite sequence. The scenes are just scattered that makes one feel that any scene could be placed anywhere inside the movie. After you feel you have reached the climax, the movie still proceeds to another half hour with an item number and then finally reaches the climax.

Vikram has done his role to his best, and he is charming at times especially when he raises his eyebrows in a charming manner while countering Shriya’s jaunts and also when he breaks into a secret smile while nailing the corrupt politicians. He saves the movie to a great extent. What spoils the broth are the clichéd dialogues!

Shriya’s skin show is a treat to all her fans. The short hairstyle that she sports in Mallanna is the latest trend among women. Her role, albeit smoking hot, rather comes across as a dumb girl who strips down to threaten Vikram in his fully CCTV monitored office room. Now that’s only a sample of inferior writing.

Ashish Vidhyarthi and Y G Mahendra’s roles are disorganized and Vadivelu’s comedy scenes are not enjoyable as they pop in at odd times even when the movie gets really serious. Cinematography is commendable and Devi Sri Prasad’s tunes make us tap our feet. The movie is simply watchable but nothing more!

'Anjaneyulu' is expected to follow the blockbluster movie 'Kick'.

Raviteja has excelled in his performance just the same way as he was in many movies. His energy level doesn`t come down from the start till the end of the movie.

Raviteja`s energy level, gimmicks, expressions & comedy are the eliments that keeps the audience hooked to the seats to watch the movie.

Anjaneyulu (raviteja) is the son of a headmaster 'Krishnamurthy' (played by Nazar) His mother always pampers 'Anjaneyulu' and supports him by all means.

'Anjaneyulu' gets the job of a director in television channel and the proprietor (Jeeva) of the TV channel happens to be the son of Krishnamoorthy and also a good friend of 'Anjaneyulu'

Nayantara plays the role of 'Anjali' who works with a mobile service provider and 'Anjaneyulu' happens to meet her and falls in love with her. The scope for 'Nayantara' to perform is not much. She has tried to give her best, with her sizzling dance sequence and being a perfect match to 'Raviteja' in the movie.

'Anjaneyulu`s' parents die in an accidental fire mishap which has been created by home minister (Dandapani) & MLA (Jayaprakash Reddy) for a political stunt. 'Anjaneyulu' comes to know about the truth and he also happens to meet a journalist (Sameer) who prepares a file with all evidences agianst these political parties to punish them.

'Anjaneyulu' joins 'Bada' group, who is a local dada and kills everyone. He handovers all the evidences to the police and solves all his problems.

'Anjaneyulu' ends up in being a real time entertainer, to spend your weekend.

Magadheera 2009 Movie Story

Harsha (Ram Charan) is a young man who earns money on bike races and bets. He loves such adventures on two wheelers. He happens to touch the hand of a young girl Indu (Kajal) accidentally and that ‘soul touch’ connects his present to the past.

What’s the past?
That’s 1609 AD when Kalabhaiarava (Ram Charan) was the warrior in Udaigarh who trains the soldiers. The Senadhipathi Randheer (Dev Gil) lusts on Yuvarani Mitravinda (Kajal) but the latter loves Kalabhirava. That results in a huge battle between Randheer and Kalabhairava which puts end for their lives. Sher Khan (Sri Hari), the Muslim invader witnesses the valor and love of Kalabhairava and salutes to him.

They take rebirth as Harsha and Indu. And many characters from the past also come to present with the soul connectivity. But where? What happens to them? How the past life matters for them in present life?

That has to be watched on big screen to experience the marvelous treat along with unleashing those queries.

Satya (Naga Chaitanya) is a youth from an upper middle class family. He is quite an intelligent boy and completes his pre-degree course (Intermediate) as a bright student.
His father always supports him as he believes that whatever decision Satya takes would be wise. He joins the degree course and finds that life just doesn’t mean education and there is lot to enjoy.
Suddenly, he declares that he doesn’t want to study and decides to leave for Hyderabad from Vizag. There, in Vizag, he stays with his maternal uncle (Sunil) and gets a job in a nursery.
He had an accidental meeting with Vidya (Karthika), whose brother runs an Irani café near MGM College. Fed up with the students clashes and ragging, Vidya’s brother refuses to admit her in the college. So Vidya joins a nursery school as a teacher. But she dreams of joining college and enjoying the life.
